(RightIsRight.co) – Raising concerns about the potential for another health crisis and sparking fears of yet another foreign disease threatening America’s health and security, the first U.S. case of a more severe Mpox variant was confirmed in California.

Health officials reported that a traveler returning from East Africa tested positive for the new Mpox strain in San Mateo County, California.

This case marks the first known instance of the more dangerous Clade I variant in the United States, a strain that has been wreaking havoc in African countries.

Despite this development, health officials confirmed there is no evidence of Mpox spreading within the U.S., keeping the public risk at a low level.

“The person is isolating at home and recovering with mild symptoms,” officials said, adding that there is no evidence the new strain is spreading in San Mateo County or anywhere else in the United States.

The new strain, known as Clade Ib, has been rapidly spreading in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, and Burundi.

Over 3,100 cases have been reported globally since late September, and the virus is now reaching American shores.

This variant is known to cause more severe symptoms and is more likely to lead to death compared to previous strains.

Mpox, similar to smallpox, is transmitted through close contact, including skin-to-skin interactions like kissing or cuddling, and primarily affects men who have sex with men.

Symptoms include blistered skin rashes, flu-like symptoms, and in severe cases, a rash. The virus was initially declared a global health emergency, but it has been spreading in the U.S. since 2022.

“Given the very low risk to the public of exposure to [the new mpox strain], the standing guidance for preventing mpox has not changed,” San Mateo county health officer Dr. Kismet Baldwin-Santana said.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) continues to push its agenda, recommending vaccinations for certain groups, including men who have sex with men and transgender individuals.

While health officials downplay the risk, citizens were told to be aware of the potential dangers.

Anyone experiencing these symptoms, especially after international travel, should seek immediate medical attention and self-isolate to prevent further spread.
