In a no-mercy statement that many Republicans agree with, Attorney General Pam Bondi called out two judges for helping illegal aliens evade federal authorities.

AG Pam Bondi minced no words about the consequences awaiting officials who obstruct immigration enforcement, regardless of their position.
The FBI arrested Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan for hiding a previously deported illegal alien in her jury room to prevent his arrest by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
Now, Dugan faces federal charges of obstruction of an official proceeding and concealing an individual to prevent discovery and arrest, which could land her behind bars for up to six years.
The illegal alien at the center of the case, Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, is a Mexican national who had already been deported once in 2013.
He was facing misdemeanor battery charges related to domestic violence when Judge Dugan helped him escape federal custody by escorting him and his attorney through a restricted jury door, bypassing the public area where ICE agents were waiting.
FBI Director Kash Patel condemned Judge Dugan’s actions, saying she was “intentionally misdirecting” immigration agents away from Flores-Ruiz.
Thankfully, agents apprehended the fugitive after a foot chase, but the damage was already done.
The same day, former New Mexico Magistrate Judge Joel Cano and his wife were arrested on evidence tampering charges for sheltering an illegal alien with ties to a Venezuelan gang.
This coordinated crackdown sends a clear message that the Trump administration will not tolerate judicial activism that undermines national security and immigration enforcement.
Attorney General Bondi was unequivocal about the consequences facing judges who believe themselves above the law. She remarked:
“No one’s above the laws in this country. And if you are destroying evidence, if you’re obstructing justice, when you have victims sitting in a courtroom of domestic violence and you’re escorting a criminal defendant out a back door, it will not be tolerated, and it is a crime in the United States of America. Doesn’t matter who you are, you’re going to be prosecuted.”
Judge Dugan, first elected in 2016 and re-elected in 2022 with endorsements from Milwaukee’s Democrat mayor, allegedly became angry upon learning ICE agents were in her courtroom.
She instructed them to report to the chief judge’s office, then used the distraction to facilitate Flores-Ruiz’s escape.
Moreover, Democrats have predictably rushed to Dugan’s defense, characterizing her arrest as political intimidation and an attack on judicial independence.
The arrests mark a significant escalation in the Trump administration’s renewed commitment to enforcing immigration laws and holding accountable sanctuary officials who obstruct federal authorities.
For years, activist judges and local officials have thwarted efforts to remove criminal illegal aliens from American communities, often with deadly consequences.
Despite the controversy, the arrest marks a noteworthy moment in Trump’s ongoing battle against judicial resistance to his administration’s immigration policies.
Observers and citizens alike can expect tensions to rise as these cases develop and the implications for legal and immigration frameworks are assessed.
