(RightIsRight.co) – A shocking development caught many world leaders by surprise when President Joe Biden, while giving a press conference on foreign soil, threatened to go to war against China if Taiwan was attacked by China or invaded by Chinese troops.

Biden seemed to be saying in his response to a reporter’s question that the United States of America would honor its long-standing commitment to protect Taiwan militarily from China if China invades or attacks Taiwan. The context of the question was in regards to the fact that the United States has not committed troops to defend Ukraine but seemingly would do so to defend Taiwan.
This commitment is based on the Taiwan Relations Act, an act of Congress that was passed in 1979. The act and all previous presidents’ interpretations of the act have always been unclear about whether the United States would be required to send military personnel to Taiwan.
When a reporter from the press poll asked Biden: “Very quickly, you didn’t want to get involved in the Ukraine conflict militarily for obvious reasons. Are you willing to get involved militarily to defend Taiwan if it comes to that?”
Biden responded: “Yes.”
Reporter: “You are?”
Biden: “That’s the commitment we made.”
