(RightIsRight.co) – Florida’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis has not found any kind words to say about Dr. Anthony Fauci, the White House chief medical adviser. Fauci has announced he will retire in December.
Fauci, the Director of the National Institute for Allergies and Infectious Diseases, has played a key role in determining the public health policies during the coronavirus pandemic.
“I think he’s done a lot of damage. I think he should have been gone long ago,” DeSantis told Fox News in an interview, as he lambasted Fauci for imposing wrongful policies upon the nation and persisting with them even after their harm had been exposed.
“If you think about what he’s done with his arrogance, that’s part of the reason why he’s advocated policies that have been so destructive. He thinks people that disagree with him are somehow beneath him,” the governor of Florida argued.
DeSantis further blasted Fauci for having been the “driving force” behind the COVID-19 lockdowns, which shut down “this country for over a year” and forced schoolchildren to “wear masks for 8 hours a day for 2 years.”
“He cost people jobs. He destroyed people’s businesses with his policies — and he was never willing to admit he was wrong when it was clear those policies don’t work,” the high-profile Republican argued.
He stressed that Fauci has been dishonest with the American public about too many things – including the potentially US-funded Chinese gain of function research involved in the origin of the COVID-19 virus.
DeSantis reiterated the promises of the various senior figures from the Republican Party to launch an all-out investigation of Fauci if it manages to take control of the US Congress, or at least of the House of Representatives, after the midterm elections in November.
“I hope that if Republicans take control, they would get to the bottom of everything – from the origins of covid to all the manifest failures of the public health establishment – particularly Dr. Anthony Fauci,” Florida’s governor said.
His comments came a day after 81-year-old Anthony Fauci announced that in December he would step down as the Director of the NIAID, which he has headed for 36 years.
Much of DeSantis’ popularity as Governor of Florida has stemmed from his opposition over the past 2.5 years to what he has termed “Faucism,” the COVID-19 lockdown, social distancing, and mask rules championed by Anthony Fauci.
