(RightIsRight.co) – Former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura sharply attacked Ohio Senator J.D. Vance for his comments about Democrat Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s military service.

On CNN’s “Laura Coates Live” Friday, Ventura called Vance’s claim of stolen valor against Walz “despicable” and accused him of showing disrespect to a fellow veteran.
Vance, who served in Iraq in 2005, claimed Walz was guilty of stolen valor after a resurfaced video suggested Walz implied he had combat experience during his time in the National Guard when he did not actually have any.
Ventura responded by saying, “It’s shameful that a veteran would attack another veteran.” He defended Walz, noting that he “served honorably for 24 years” and that “after 20 years, you are eligible to retire at any time you deem necessary.”
Moreover, Ventura argued that the National Guard should never have been used for foreign conflicts and criticized former President George W. Bush’s administration.
He said, “That happened because George W. Bush and Dick Cheney went into the Iraq War based on lies, no weapons of mass destruction, no ties to al-Qaeda, nothing with 9/11, and they ran out of bodies.”
“They needed more bodies. They couldn’t implement a draft. That would be political suicide. So what George Bush did was sign an executive order sending the National Guard into foreign deployment,” Ventura added.
Additionally, Ventura endorsed Kamala Harris for the presidency. Reflecting on his wish to see the first female president, he said, “…I want to be alive to see the first woman president of the United States of America and the first woman Commander-in-Chief, and we’ve got her right now.”
The controversy surrounding Governor Walz’s military service involved his decision to retire from the Minnesota National Guard in 2005, just before his battalion was scheduled to deploy to Iraq. Critics argued that he abandoned his unit at a critical time.
Luke Schroeder, a spokesman for Vance, said that Walz “got caught red-handed lying about going to war.”
He added, “To make matters worse, after a week of nonstop lies from the Kamala Harris campaign claiming otherwise, a command sergeant major senior to Walz has now confirmed he knew he was being sent to Iraq months before he decided to abandon his men so he could run for Congress.”
