(RightIsRight.co) – During an interview at The Texas Tribune festival this past Saturday, Congresswoman Liz Cheney (R-WY), who lost her primary in a landslide and will be out of office in January, threatened to quit the Republican Party if former President Donald Trump is the GOP presidential nominee in 2024.
Additionally, Cheney announced she would support Democrats running against MAGA candidates and immediately fired off another political threat against Kari Lake.
You can watch a video clip of Cheney saying what she’ll do to Lake further down this post.
According to National Review in “Liz Cheney Says She Will Leave GOP if Trump Wins 2024 Nomination“:
“Republican representative Liz Cheney (Wyo.) vowed to leave the GOP if former president Trump secures the party’s 2024 nomination and said she would start supporting Democrats to help prevent MAGA candidates from getting elected.
“‘I’m going to make sure Donald Trump, I’m going to do everything I can to make sure he is not the nominee. And if he is the nominee, I won’t be a Republican,’ Cheney said at The Texas Tribune festival Saturday.” [emphasis added]
As mentioned above, in addition to Trump, Cheney has set her political sights on Kari Lake, the GOP gubernatorial candidate in Arizona.
“‘I’m going to do everything I can to make sure Kari Lake is not elected,’ Cheney said. She affirmed that she would campaign for Democrats to ensure this outcome.” [emphasis added]
Here is a video clip of Cheney saying she will actively try to stop Kari Lake from becoming Governor of Arizona.
