According to a statement obtained by CNN, Space Pioneer, also known as Beijing Tianbing Technology, was conducting a ground test with their Tianlong-3 rocket when a “structural failure” caused it to break away from the launch pad.

The company stated, “Due to the structural failure of the connection between the rocket body and the test platform, the first-stage rocket was separated from the launch pad.”

“After liftoff, the onboard computer was automatically shut down, and the rocket fell into the deep mountains 1.5 kilometers [0.9 miles] southwest of the test platform. The rocket body fell into the mountain and disintegrated,” it continued.

While videos shared on social media showed the moment the rocket launched and then fell, causing a fiery explosion, no injuries were reported from the crash.

Moreover, CNN described Space Pioneer as a “leading company” in the commercial rocket industry, working to develop reusable orbital rocket technology.

Space Pioneer, a leading company in the commercial rocket industry, previously launched its Tianlong-2 rocket in April 202—China’s first liquid carrier rocket launched by a commercial operator.

According to the Chinese government, it was a successful milestone.

Additionally, the rocket that disintegrated on Sunday was reportedly a key part of Space Pioneer’s efforts to develop the country’s satellite internet network, a significant project in the field of aerospace technology.
