WALZ LIED ABOUT BEING ARRESTED (Photo)

(RightIsRight.co) – Recently picked as Kamala Harris’ vice-presidential candidate, hard-left Democrat Minnesota Governor Tim Walz falsely denied he was drunk on the night of his September 23, 1995, arrest in Nebraska.

At the time, 31-year-old Walz was driving 96 miles per hour in a 55-mph zone in his silver Mazda while under the influence of alcohol. Walz took a breath test that showed his blood-alcohol level at 0.128%, which is above the legal limit of 0.08%.

According to the New York Post, authorities arrested Walz and took him to Dawes County Jail.

While his congressional campaign denied the incident, he later pleaded guilty to a reckless driving charge during a March 1996 court hearing, admitting he disregarded “the safety of persons or property,” based on a transcript of the court hearing.

His campaign manager at the time, Kerry Greeley, said Walz’s deafness, caused by his Army National Guard artillery service, led to misunderstandings between him and the officer.

“He couldn’t understand what the officer was saying to him,” Greeley said.

Greeley also claimed the judge scolded the officer for not realizing Walz was deaf. However, the court hearing transcript does not support Greeley’s claims.

Walz told The Minneapolis Star Tribune in 2018 that he had been watching college football with friends and failed a sobriety test that night. He reportedly no longer drinks alcohol and instead prefers Diet Mountain Dew.

At the time, Walz’s lawyer, Russell Harford, said his client sped because he thought the officer was “somebody chasing him.”

Harford told Judge James Hansen stated, “This is a little bit bizarre, but Mr. Walz thought somebody was chasing him. The officer didn’t turn on his red lights and he — somebody came up real fast behind him and he didn’t know what they were doing.”

“So he sped up to try to get away, fearing that somebody was after him. Lo and behold, it was a state patrolman that was behind him, so the faster he went, the faster the state patrol officer went,” he continued.

The Minnesota governor was a teacher at Alliance High School at the time of his arrest and offered to resign over the incident. The school principal reportedly persuaded him not to resign.
