(RightIsRight.co) – The Biden administration’s Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have released a Joint Intelligence Bulletin warning of domestic extremist threats targeting upcoming elections.
This joint intelligence bulletin, obtained by left-leaning media outlets, claims various groups pose risks to political candidates, election workers, and even voters.
According to reports, the FBI and DHS have issued a warning to state and local law enforcement about potential violence from “domestic violent extremists with election-related grievances.”
While the government agencies asserted these warnings were necessary to protect democracy, skeptics argued this could be a pretext for increased surveillance and suppression of conservative activism.
Such bulletin suggested that public venues like voting locations and campaign events could be targets for extremists.
However, it is worth noting that the vast majority of conservative gatherings and events have been peaceful despite attempts by some to portray them otherwise.
Moreover, critics argued that this focus on domestic threats conveniently ignores the very real dangers posed by foreign actors.
The same report acknowledged that Russia, China, and Iran remain significant threats to election integrity, using sophisticated technologies like AI to influence outcomes. Yet, the emphasis is on painting American citizens as the primary danger.
Matthew Olsen from the Justice Department’s National Security Division claims these foreign countries aim to change election outcomes or exploit divisive issues.
However, some wonder if the real exploitation is coming from within the own government, using fear to justify increased control over the electoral process.
The report cites concerns about targeting election workers on Election Day to disrupt the process.
Still, it fails to address the legitimate concerns many Americans have about election integrity, instead seemingly lumping all skeptics into the category of potential extremists.
In turn, some jurisdictions are ramping up security measures to levels that seem more appropriate for a war zone than a democratic election.
Maricopa County, Arizona, for instance, is deploying metal detectors, armed guards, drones, and even police snipers.
While safety is important, these extreme measures raise questions about voter intimidation and the creation of a climate of fear that could suppress turnout, particularly among conservative voters who already feel targeted by government agencies.
