In a brazen and chilling demonstration of anti-law enforcement violence, ten individuals were arrested for orchestrating an armed attack on federal officers at an ICE detention center.

The attackers, dressed in black military-style clothing and armed with AR-15 rifles, specifically targeted Immigration and Customs Enforcement personnel during America’s Independence Day celebrations.
Federal prosecutors have now charged the suspects with attempted murder, facing potential life sentences for their calculated assault on those protecting the borders.
Federal authorities revealed that the attack unfolded at approximately 10:30 p.m. on July 4, 2025, at the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas, about 25 miles south of Fort Worth.
According to investigators, the suspects devised a methodical plan to lure unarmed ICE corrections officers outside the facility by setting off fireworks and vandalizing vehicles with anti-ICE messages.
Acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, Nancy Larson, did not mince words about the nature of the incident:
“Let’s discuss this incident: It was a planned ambush with the intent to kill ICE corrections officers. Make no mistake, this was not a so-called peaceful protest. It was, indeed, an ambush.”

Court documents described how the group spray-painted government vehicles with inflammatory anti-law enforcement messages to draw officers outside.
“The graffiti had such words as traitor, ice pig, and other profanity,” Larson detailed.
When the officers emerged to investigate the disturbance, concealed attackers opened fire with semi-automatic weapons.
An Alvarado police officer responding to the scene was shot in the neck during the firefight.
Thankfully, the wounded officer has since been treated and released from the hospital and is expected to recover.
While no detention facility employees were injured in the assault, the attack represents a disturbing escalation in violence against immigration enforcement officials.
Furthermore, law enforcement recovered damning evidence following the arrests, including body armor, tactical gloves, masks, goggles, weapons, and what officials described as “insurrectionist material.”
Two AR-15 rifles were found abandoned near the scene, one of which had jammed during the attack.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office also stopped a vehicle whose driver had two firearms and a Kevlar vest.

Each of the ten suspects now faces three counts of attempted murder of a federal officer and three counts of discharging a firearm in relation to a crime of violence.
These charges carry mandatory minimum sentences of 10 years with the possibility of life imprisonment.
An eleventh suspect faces additional charges of obstruction of justice and conspiracy for allegedly attempting to destroy evidence.
Federal authorities are treating the investigation as a top priority.
Joe Rothrock, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Dallas Office, declared:
“This investigation is a priority for the FBI and we’ve dedicated significant resources. We committed to identifying and holding accountable all those responsible for this attack.”
The attack marks the fifth assault on law enforcement in northern Texas this year alone, highlighting the dangerous environment that border enforcement officers face while carrying out their duties to protect American communities.
The FBI continues to seek additional information from the public as the investigation proceeds.
