(RightIsRight.co) – During her appearance on “The Reidout” with host Joy Reid, Democratic Washington Representative Pramila Jayapal outraged people by laughing about news outlets’ coverage of Joe Biden’s June 18, 2024, executive action.
Jayapal was harshly criticized and sparked backlash due to her mockery, particularly to the Fox News headline “Migrant Arrested For Raping 13-Year-Old NYC Girl.”
The segment highlighted differences in how MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News covered Biden’s announcement of legal protections for illegal spouses of U.S. citizens.
While MSNBC and CNN focused on Biden’s policy, Fox News aired news about 25-year-old Ecuadorian illegal Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi, accused of a crime in Queens, New York. Inga-Landi allegedly admitted to recording his attack on a 13-year-old girl.
“Ha! Yes,” Jayapal responded.
“And so I think that’s a part of the problem,” Reid continued.
Subsequently, Republican Tennessee Representative Mark Green, Chair of the House Homeland Security Committee, criticized Jayapal’s response.
“Unfortunately, Ms. Jayapal’s callous and heartless response to these tragedies represents how many on the left, including in Washington, view those impacted by the Biden administration’s open borders,” Green told the New York Post.
“I wish lawmakers on the other side of the aisle would take this crisis seriously, and that starts with admitting that, thanks to President Biden and [Homeland Security] Secretary Mayorkas, many Americans are now rightfully afraid,” he added.
Additionally, Jayapal advocated for making it easier for illegals who entered the country illicitly to work, citing low unemployment and the need to integrate long-standing undocumented residents.
She also noted the executive order would affect about 500,000 illegal spouses who, according to the White House, have lived in the U.S. for an average of 23 years.
