Former President Trump is waging a war against Senate Republicans who are not supporting the investigation into President Biden’s family business dealings by claiming that those incumbents should be challenged in the Republican primary.

There are many Senate Republicans that have expressed opposition to having Trump become the 2024 Republican party nominee. They have also been cautious about defending the former President in the different cases he is facing as they are cautious of how polarizing a figure he is. Senate Republican strategists and aides have also claimed that there is not a lot that the Senate can do to investigate the Biden family’s business dealings as they are not able to issue subpoenas.

However, the Republican Senators have also avoided verbally supporting Trump, which had been seen as a big contrast to the approach that the House Republicans have followed.

GOP strategist Ron Bonjean, who previously worked as a Senate leadership aide, argued that Trump’s call for an investigation is widely considered by the Senate to be a distraction mechanism to get people to not focus on the investigation into Trump. However, he added that it was unlikely that this technique would be effective.

Trump is also not particularly pleased with the reluctance shown by Republican lawmakers when it comes to impeaching Biden or Attorney General Merrick Garland. Trump also criticized Republican House members and Senators for having “other priorities” and not focusing on the House committee probe into Hunter Biden and the Biden family’s foreign business dealings.
